A lifelong resident of Paulsboro and graduate of Paulsboro High School, Ercole was deeply rooted in his community. He was a master mechanic by trade and a mentor by heart, helping countless young people—including the sons of family friends—find purpose and pride in skilled trades. His impact reached far beyond his shop.
His wife, Jenn Chila, shared an emotional tribute:
“Last night my husband and the Chila family lost a great man… He has helped so many people throughout the years, including us. It breaks my heart that your life ended so early and abruptly.”
Ercole leaves behind Jenn and their three beloved daughters—Selena, Alicia, and Justine—whom he loved fiercely. Friends remember him as a man who showed up for his family and community every single day, whether through his work, his unwavering friendship, or his passion for coaching and cheering on his girls.
Longtime friend Paul D. Beery reflected,
“Gibbstown/Paulsboro will never be the same without Ercole. One of the most genuine, kind, caring, and giving people I have ever met… You will be missed, Ercole, but never forgotten.”
Ercole was also known in the local softball community as a passionate supporter and “BBQ champion,” earning love and admiration from the Gibbstown Softball Family. A statement from the team expressed collective grief and support:
“Our hearts are hurting; we lost one of our biggest supporters and a truly good person… Rest in peace, Ercole. Your legacy of love and support lives on in your girls.”
